What Strategic Website Design Is All About, And Why You Should Care…

A great website has to do more than just look good, it also has to work well. And in order to do that successfully, you need to have a plan AKA: 👉🏻 a strategy.

Strategic website design is essentially about creating a plan that outlines your goals, the main purpose for your website, and how you’re going to achieve those goals. Your plan can include a bunch of different things depending on individual needs, but most will (and should!) include consideration of the following things:

Your Goals:

It’s important to take some time to figure out what the goals are for your website. What is it that you want or need your website to do for you? Maybe you want to sell more products or services, or maybe you want to grow your email list so you can convert some of your website visitors to sales. Whatever you decide, the goals you set will determine what you’re working toward with your strategic website design, so this step is important.

Target Audience:

Another important step is to figure out who your target audience is. This is actually really important because it will play a big role in how your website should look and function. Your audience will not only influence the overall style and vibe of your website but it will also determine a lot of smaller details, like font sizes, so make sure you’re clear about who will be using your website and consider them in your design strategy.

Quality Design:

First impressions matter! A well-designed website can not only help you leave a good impression on a new website visitor, it can also convert more website lurkers into paying customers. But, more importantly, it provides good user experience and helps your website visitors navigate your website easily.

Clear Calls To Action:

A call to action is a simple, but key feature on any strategic, well-designed webpage, that basically tells your website visitor what to do next. Without a clear call to action (or CTA), your website visitor may not know what the next steps are and might end up leaving your site before they purchase your product or service, sign up for your join your class, or sign up for your newsletter!

Brand Personality:

Every brand has a story to tell, so find your story and figure out how you want to tell it. Think about how you want people to feel when they interact with your brand. Think about your logos, your colours, fonts and messaging. Your strategic website design should embody the personality and character of your brand and it should feel cohesive across your entire website as well as any other marketing materials.

Integrated SEO:

And last but not least, having an SEO strategy is crucial in any strategic website design because it helps you stay on track when creating any kind of content for your site. Instead of just creating what you think people are looking for, your strategy will ensure that you're creating content that the right people are searching for.
